What is syntax？

Syntax is the study of the rules governing the ways different constituents are combined to form sentences in a language, or the study of the interrelationships between elements in sentence structures．Ever since syntax came into being, it has long been the centre of grammatical study because sentence is the largest grammatical unit while syntax revolves around words, and more specifically it focuses on how words are arranged in a sentence．
